‘not being seen’

In “HM Government, Public Service Film No 42 Para 6 ‘How Not to Be Seen’ ”, narrator John Cleese informs us that there are 40 people hiding in the field shown on screen. Among them is one Mr ER Bradshaw of Napier Court, Black Lion Road, London SE5. “Mr Bradshaw,” asks Cleese, “could you please stand up?”

A man gets to his feet from behind a pile of hay and is abruptly shot dead by someone off camera. This, Cleese informs us, “demonstrates the value of not being seen”. It’s something that has been lost to us in the realm of online communications.
