‘You’re always the one choosing the direction’

Too many students think college is a vacation, but the smart ones know they can’t just waste that time playing.

INSIDER TIP: Judge a job on its future potential. A seemingly lateral move could ultimately prove to be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Public relations was my calling and if it had not been for my stint in magazines, I would have never known it. You can’t plan that; it just happens. People who tell you how they mapped out their five-year plan are full of it. You can’t know. I’m sorry, you just can’t. It’s not a plan, it’s a decision. Sometimes you make good ones and other times you don’t.

But the point is you’re always the one choosing the direction.
